MEET THE TEAM: Cara Bertram

Hi, I’m Cara Bertram, a Senior Systems Engineer at AZZO. I started my career 15 years ago in control systems within industrial automation, focusing on electrical drives. Since then, I’ve worked across a variety of applications, providing technical support and creating tailored solutions. Originally from the UK, I made the move to Australia, which was around the same time I transitioned into the renewables sector—but not before getting locked in a borehole in Fiji!

These days, I’m focused on large-scale solar farms and microgrids, developing advanced power monitoring and control systems. I love solving technical problems—the tougher the challenge, the more satisfying the solution!

Outside of work, I can’t say I always had a passion for travel, but a very convincing partner managed to get me out exploring the world—and I’m so grateful they did. Those adventures took us through South America, Africa, and Central America, where I got to experience incredible landscapes, diverse cultures, and discover a love for hiking.

Eventually, our travels led us to Australia, and I loved it so much that I decided to stay. Now, hiking has become one of my favorite ways to soak up the beauty and adventure that Australia has to offer.
